Things to do in Sea Isle City

The Sea Isle City Promenade is a popular stop for vacation goers. This 1.5-mile oceanfront destination is home to shops, eateries and arcades. It’s a trendy, family-friendly area to catch breathtaking ocean views and spend the afternoon. The Band Shell is where you’ll find the best of local entertainment through the summer months. Located in the heart of the downtown beachfront district, Band Shell features weekly concerts, movies, dance parties and “Sea Isle City’s Got Talent” contests. The Sea Isle City Historical Museum is the best place to learn more about the resort town’s past, present and future. You can trace local history through artifacts, period clothing, furniture and photo albums. Admission to the museum is free, and guided tours are available upon request. Ludlam’s Beach Lighthouse on Landis Ave is also a nod to history. The historic structure was once a navigational aid for the U.S. Coast Guard. It’s now a private residence, but you can still drive up to tour the site. For an educational experience, visitors can learn about beach creatures, shells and local plants with the Sea Isle City Environmental Commission. Both children and adults can sign up for a beachcombing excursion that lasts about an hour long. It runs Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. The cost to participate is 50 cents for children and 1 dollar for adults.

Day trips from Sea Isle City

A day trip from Sea Isle City could mean a jaunt into the city or a romp into the wild. The Beaver Swamp Fish and Wildlife Area is a vast park located 8 miles west of Sea Isle City. There are trails through expansive, wooded natural habitats where guests can observe various animal species. Cape May National Wildlife Refuge, a protected habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife, is located 8.5 miles away from Sea Isle City. The Jersey shore is also dotted with a healthy mix of sprawling resort towns and quaint beachside communities. Travel down south towards Avalon. You’ll hit Seven Mile Beach, a barrier island with tons to do and explore. If you head north, you might find yourself in Atlantic City. There are a handful of apartments and room rentals available as well. The main inns and motel in town are located on Landis Avenue. Many of the home and apartment rentals are also located on this street. Though the island does not offer camping or trailer facilities, there are numerous campgrounds within a ten-mile radius outside of Sea Isle City.

Transportation in Sea Isle City

Explore Sea Isle City on foot to get the most of the beachside experience. Walk straight down Landis Avenue to hit all the major stops. The entire island is only about 5 miles long. The Jitney is another way to get around Sea Isle City. It runs north and southbound on Landis Avenue. Drivers will stop at most street corners upon request. If you’re heading to town by car via the Atlantic City Expressway, you’ll want to exit at 7S on the Garden State Parkway and exit 17 for Sea Isle City. You can also take New Jersey Transit from Philadelphia to Atlantic City, from where you can take bus 319 into town.
