Things to Do in Petoskey
Petoskey is the perfect place for a relaxing vacation! Go for a walk in Petoskey State Park (they have a great beach too). Or go for a leisurely bike ride through Little Traverse Wheelway. The downtown area (or Historic Gaslight District) is amazing for boutique shopping and there are tons of restaurants to pick from here. The Mackinaw Trail Winery has a stellar wine tour and is one of the friendliest wineries! If you’re looking for games and a night with “Lady Luck” then head over to Odawa Casino for a great time! Bear River Valley Recreation Area is another great outdoor experience waiting to happen. If you like art, then you need to see some of the shows at the Crooked Tree Arts Center. Or if you want to just relax by the shores of Lake Michigan and nothing else, you can do that too! When you start to get hungry, we recommend trying one if not all of the following: Julienne Tomatoes, Palette Bistro, City Park Grill, Mim’s Mediterranean Grill, Twisted Olive, or Noggin Room. There are more places than just these and if you find a great place, let us know!
Day Trips from Petoskey
Less than an hour’s drive away is Mackinaw City where you can hop on a ferry and go to Mackinac Island. Eat fudge and ride in horse-drawn carriages! There are no cars here, but that’s just fine because you don’t need to get anywhere in a hurry! Sit on the porch at the Grand Hotel and overlook the island and beautiful Lake Michigan. Or you can drive north a mere 15 minutes to Harbor Springs for an equally relaxing day with some great shopping. You can also head south along the lake to Traverse City. It’s definitely larger than Petoskey, but still maintains that coastal resort charm. However, it is an amazing coastal city with tons of shopping, restaurants and water activities for all ages.
