Julian Information
About Julian
Julian is a secluded town of California in the Cuyamaca mountains with a gold rush past. Historic buildings and good old fashioned apple pie bring visitors to Julian in San Diego County. Julian takes you back in time with carriage rides, orchards, star-gazing, and gold-mines. Get lost in one of California’s most underrated towns.
Things to do in Julian
There’s plenty to do in the little town of Julian, for example take a narrated carriage ride with the Julian Carriage Company. The 15 minutes ride is well worth it, but you can also reserve a longer ride. Go on a historic tour of “Gold Hill,” which takes you through Julian’s history of the gold rush with a town tour and a visit to a gold mine. Eagle and High Peak Mines are two of the original gold mines. Get out of this world and go on a stargazing tour with the Observer’s Inn courtesy of Julian’s open and awe-inspiring skies. An astronomer can teach you about the sky through a large telescope, which has to be reserved in advance. Orchards such as Apple Starr and Calico Ranch are open in the fall season of August until October for you to pick fruit. The California Wolf Centre is a wonderful resource to learn about these furry friends, but yet again a reservation is necessary!
