Saugatuck is known for its beaches and its coastal dunes on Lake Michigan. Oval Beach is one of the most popular beaches on Lake Michigan and was even rated a top five beach in America by MTV, while the Chicago Tribune dubbed it the best beach in the Midwest. Downtown Saugatuck is a very charming place and has great restaurants and shopping with many stores that show the pride of “Pure Michigan.” Make sure to go down Butler Street and enjoy the great food, ice cream and shopping it has to offer. There is a great art scene in the Saugatuck area with great museums and studios like Amazwi Contemporary Art gallery displaying pieces from Africa and the Discovery Art Center, which is a nationally recognized co-op of local artists. There is also great golf offered at Clearbrook Golf Club and the Ravines Golf Club.

There are great towns with stunning beaches all along the Lake Michigan coast and in close-proximity to Saugatuck, so you should be sure to visit some of them including Grand Haven, South Haven and Holland.
