There are many things to do in Tempe that can keep you busy during your stay. Visit the beautiful campus of Arizona State and walk around. The grounds of the campus are officially an arboretum, and you can find discreet tags marking many of the trees and plants. Most of the foliage on the campus showcases desert and tropical flora from around the world. There are also a number of facilities worth visiting on the campus. Outside of the campus, Sea Life Arizona Aquarium is a great place to visit and fun for the whole family. There, you can see exhibits that showcase a large variety of interesting sea creatures. Tempe Beach Park is another fun place to visit, which serves as a landmark in Tempe and has beach around Tempe Town Lake. You can enjoy biking or walking through the park area, swimming, canoeing or kayaking. It is easy to rent boats, kayaks, paddleboards and more. The park also has a Splash Playground for children. Another great family outing is at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Arizona, where there are LEGO exhibits, rides, a 4D cinema and play areas for children. The Mill Avenue District, located in the heart of downtown Tempe, is where you should go for shopping and eating. There are more than 175 shops, restaurants and entertainment venues under the roof of the Arizona Mills Mall. You can also go to the Hayden Butte Preserve Park, located right in downtown Tempe. It’s a 25-acre park that offers the best views of the city from above as well as views of the Papago Mountains, Camelback Mountain and the Salt River.

Tempe is within an easy distance from other cities in Arizona like Mesa, Phoenix, Tucson, and more. Take a 20-minute drive and spend the day in Arizona’s largest city and capital, Phoenix. There are great museums, like the famous Musical Instrument Museum and the Heard Museum of Native and Cultural Arts. Phoenix is a great sports town as well. Take another short 20-minute drive to see the beautiful city of Mesa, Arizona. Mesa has a great cultural scene with many museums, but something you must do is visit Tonto National Forest. It’s the fifth largest national forest in the United States and spans over 2.8 million acres. Enjoy hiking on many trails overlooking the beautiful Arizona desert scenery and the mountainous terrain.
