Two Rivers Information
About Two Rivers
Two Rivers is a charming beach town on the eastern coast of Wisconsin along Lake Michigan. Home of the beautiful Neshotah Beach, Two Rivers is a popular vacation spot for those seeking a coastal getaway to explore, relax and surf. In recognition of its shoreline culture, the town’s slogan is “Catch a Wave.” Two Rivers is also widely known as the birthplace of the ice cream sundae, though Ithaca, New York also considers itself the originator of the sundae. Two Rivers historians say that Ed Berners invented the desert in 1881. Today, you can still visit the original ice cream parlor at the Washington House Museum and Visitor Center.
Things to do in Two Rivers
Frank Lloyd Wright left his mark in the Midwest, and Two Rivers boasts its own piece of American architecture history with the Bernard Schwartz House on Adams Street. You can find more information about the house and tours on The Schwartz House website. In addition to the Washington House Museum, which was originally a hotel built to accommodate European immigrants in the 1850s, stop by the Hamilton Woodtype and Printing Museum – the only museum in the world where visitors can learn about the preservation of wood type. Have you ever pet an alpaca? At LondonDairy Alpacas, you can learn how an alpaca ranch operates, feed an alpaca and see how their fiber (fur) is turned into very soft wool. Kids and adults alike won’t forget the experience petting an alpaca for the first time! Take a trip to Neshotah Beach for sun and sand, or hike through the Woodland Dunes for an adventurous beach experience. Woodland Dunes features 1,300 acres of natural habitat, including a prairie of wildflowers and a butterfly garden. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing are encouraged in the winter!

If you’re in town during football season, take the 40-minute drive northwest to see the Green Bay Packers play a home game at Lambeau Field. The third-oldest NFL franchise, the Green Bay Packers have a diehard fan base and have won the most league championships in NFL history, despite the fact that Green Bay is the smallest sports market in the United States. Just a few miles north of Two Rivers, you’ll find Point Beach State Forest, well worth a day trip. The forest is available for public use year-round, while a supplies and concessions store is open during the summer.
