Mears is an unincorporated community of Oceana County in eastern Michigan that is positioned just a few miles from Lake Michigan. The town was founded in 1873 by Charles Mears who owned a mill in the area. Since then, it has grown to be included in the Golden Township of Michigan, which houses just under 2,000 residents. This small town is a great escape for those looking for a nice getaway.

The Silver Lake Sand Dunes Area in Silver Lake State Park is a main attraction in Mears. Situated between Lake Michigan and Silver Lake, the dunes are open from April to October and provide a unique view of the area’s natural beauty. The dunes can be accessed by foot, 4-wheel ATVs or buggies, (which can be rented from local shops), or via a company tour ride.
