Things to Do in Cave City

Mammoth Cave National Park is one of the oldest tourist attractions in America, open to visitors since 1816. Check out formations that are over 200-years old, go on the Frozen Niagara Cave Tour, and visit Kentucky Action Park—an adventure hub that bandit Jesse James once roamed. Try on western clothing and make a memento at Old Time Photo, then head to Heirloom Trail, which connects Cave City’s multiple antique, consignment, and craft shops. Satisfy your sweet tooth in Chaser’s Chocolates, a specialty sweet shop that creates dark chocolate with cream centers containing various Kentucky liquors including bourbon, brandy, and rum. Check out the legendary horse racing history at Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Derby Museum, and the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park. You can also visit the childhood home of Abraham Lincoln in Hodgenville, KY, and learn about famous Kentucky musicians at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame Museum.
