Cornwall Information

About Cornwall

Visit the colourful coastline of Cornwall, with hundreds of miles of cliffs and dunes. The clear blue sea and unspoilt beaches compliment the cute and expansive area. The English seaside is a pastel coloured dream, where the locals surf, walk the beaches, and explore the little towns. Discover the hidden treasures!

Things to do in Cornwall

Cornwall is a popular place for surfing, with lessons available at most beaches. The cold doesn’t stop anyone, but you’ll need a wetsuit for sure. Take the locals’ advice when it comes to rip currents, however! The many beaches are perfect for picnics, walking dogs, or exploring the rock pools. Some beaches to visit are Clodgy Point in West Cornwall, Portwrinkle in South East Cornwall, and Holywell Bay in the North Cornish Coast. The idyllic and popular beach towns of St Ives and Newquay are the most frequented for the classic Cornwall get-a-way. The Lizard Point is the most southerly spot in England, and a serene cliff area in Cornwall. Visit the old lifeboat station from the cliff, and admire the waves and views — just a short walk from the center of The Lizard. St Michael’s Mount is another must-see spot, with a fairytale boat ride to the island with a castle. St Michael’s Mount has a few little cafes, but the walk up to the castle is the main event.

Day trips from Cornwall

Cornwall has so many gems and towns to explore, but it’s also nearby to some must-see destinations in England. Torquay is a three hour train ride away, and a two hour drive from Cornwall. The delightful little seaside town is home to Kents Cavern, where you can take a jolly tour of the incredible caves. Babbacombe in Torquay is known for its model village, and scenic views of the coast. Torquay’s Inner Harbour has ferry trips, and the harbour itself is buzzing with life. Exeter is an hour and a half drive, or a three hour train journey away from Cornwall. In Devon, Exeter is full of history. See the stunning Exeter Cathedral with its ornamentation and incredible stained glass. The Royal Albert Memorial Museum will keep you up with your history, with all kinds of treasures. Powderham Castle is storybook perfect with its themes, like Alice in Wonderland. Lastly, the Exeter Quay is ideal for exploring restaurants, and watching the swans swim across the river.

Cornwall accommodations

There are thousands of rentals that Tripping has to offer over the expansive Cornwall. From your traditional English country house to cute little cottages, and even luxurious hotels. The areas of St Ives and Newquay are probably the most popular vacation destinations, but the other towns are even more off-the-grid and just as idyllic.

Transportation in Cornwall

Getting around Cornwall is a joy on foot or bike, with the many scenic paths and walkways. You can get around many different ways, as Cornwall has buses, trains, ferries — anything you could imagine! Strolls across the beaches are the most popular way of moving between destinations.
