In the heart of Cadiz resting in Andalucia, take a delightful trip to Chipiona. In the valley of the Rive Guadalquivir, this gorgeous town in Spain draws thousands of visitors for vacations, and has a history that dates back to Roman times. With picture-perfect beaches and beautiful old buildings, find frivolity and culture on your vacation. This mix of a fishing village and vacation resort gives you seafood and wine that will have you coming back for more.
Things to do in Chipiona
Chipiona has the tallest lighthouse in Spain — a symbol of the town, and the third largest lighthouse in Europe. The lighthouse is located in the Punta del Perro, at the mouth of the Guadalquivir. You can tour the lighthouse and climb up the hundreds of steps to the very top for the most incredible views. For beaches, the Playa de la Regla and Playa del Camaron are the most popular and frequented beaches just east of Chipiona. Try Las Canteras, an impeccably clean beach with tidal fishing pools and lots of restaurants nearby. De Regla beach is best if you’re looking to escape the crowds, as it’s much quieter, even with a few beach bars around. See the Monastery of Nuestra Señora de Regla, a beautiful church with some incredible shrines and architecture. The Chipiona Castle, built in 1295, is now a monastery open to visitors.
