About Tulum

Situated in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo on the Caribbean Sea, Tulum is a quaint community renowned for its Mayan archaeological ruins and scenic beaches with sandy white shores and turquoise waters. Tulum offers a tropical getaway replete with an easygoing atmosphere and gorgeous scenery. Things to do in Tulum

Tulum is a thrilling place for the adventurous. One of the most popular attractions in Tulum is its well-preserved Mayan ruins. Several of the ruins are perched on cliffs that overlook the dazzling coast of the Yucatán Peninsula. Notable historic sites to explore are the Temple of the Frescoes, God of Winds Temple, and Great Palace. Accordingly, the town is also home to a number of unforgettable caves that are open to tours. In addition, some of the caves such as Cenotes Dos Ojos and Sac Actun are flooded to allow visitors to swim through them. As for the beaches, the prominent ones in Tulum include the Mayan Beach and Tulum Beach. Likewise, Kanlum Lagoon is another noteworthy body of water because of its gorgeousness and lack of crowds.

Day trips from Tulum

Located about a two hour’s drive north from Tulum is the distinguished resort city of Cancún. Similar to Tulum, Cancún also features magnificent archaeological ruins of the Mayan people such as El Meco and Yamil Lu'um which translates to “Temple of the Scorpion.” Since the city faces the Caribbean Sea, its many beaches boast brilliant white sand and a bright blue ocean. Playa Delfines is one of Cancún’s largest beaches, and Playa Forum is a trendy coast with a vibrant nightlife. Playa Tortugas serves as the most family-friendly beach because of the very calm waters. Playa del Carmen is accessible with approximately an hour’s worth of driving north from Tulum. This seaside city is a regular stop for numerous cruise ships. It’s also famous for its passenger ferry service that takes visitors to the island of Cozumel, an eminent destination for scuba diving. Just a 15-minute drive southward from Playa del Carmen is the town of Xcaret which houses the Xcaret Eco Park, a theme park promoting ecotourism.
