About an hour and a half south of Mexico City lies Cuernavaca, the largest city in the Mexican state of Morelos. It was originally established by the Olmec people nearly 3,200 years ago. The name itself is derived from a Nahuatl phrase meaning surrounded by trees and was nicknamed the “city of eternal spring” because of its semi-tropical climate. Things to do in Cuernavaca
The Borda Garden Cultural Center is a great place to start your vacation. It was once the site of the riches families in the city, and its prime location is a testament to that. The second floor of the museum hold a series of murals painted by the renowned Diego Rivera. You don’t want to pass up this attraction while you’re visiting Cuernavaca. Located right outside of town and easy to reach, the Archeological Zone of Xochicalco Cuernavaca features ruins that once served as very important meeting grounds for ancient civilizations. A guided tour is recommended to learn about the history of the ruins, but a self-guided tour is a possibility if you’re interested in exploring the grounds on your own.
