Loreto Information

About Loreto

Loreto is a breathtaking small town in Mexico, known for its fishing and water sports. It’s a popular destination without being too crowded, so you’ll find the area to be peaceful as well as vibrant. The area has a deep history, as one of the oldest human settlements around, and once home to many Indigenous cultures. The laid back vibe is a testament to this fishing town that retains its authenticity.

Things To Do In Loreto

Loreto is known for its fishing, one of the main appeals of the Mexican town. Find dorado, sailfish, and yellowtail in the beautiful waters during different seasons. There are many local fishing tournaments to observe or take part in. However, the beaches are the best part of visiting Loreto. Main Beach is in the center or town, while the Ensenada Blanca is a drive away. Although further out, Ensenada Blanca is worth the trip with dazzling sunsets and snorkelling. Nopolo beach is right outside of the main village, with small beautiful beaches lining resort communities. Visit the Our Lady of Loreto, a historic building and popular as a tourist destination. You can find the church at the start of the El Camino Real or the Royal Road, which goes north up to California. Check out the incredible La Giganta Mountain Range in Loreto, where you can explore canyons to see incredible cave paintings.

Day Trips From Loreto

San Javier is less than an hour drive away from Loreto. Although the San Javier village is remote, it’s a very popular day trip in the area. The roads have been newly paved so that you can drive up to the remote location, and the Mission San Francisco Xavier de Vigge-Biaundo. A day trip here feels like going back in time, and is truly incredible. Among the cobblestones and very old structures, there are lush trees and flowers. There are nearby ranches where the locals raise animals or grow crops. Enjoy this mystical trip!

Loreto Accommodations

Tripping has a small but beautiful selection of rentals for you to browse through in Loreto. Find your Mexican vacation home — hopefully with ocean views! There are some wonderful apartments and houses for you to explore, depending on how many of you are staying. Transportation In Loreto

Fly into the Loreto International Airport. Rent a car from the airport, or arrange for a shuttle to get to your accommodation — taxis from the airport can be expensive. If you rent a car, your day trips will be much simpler, as you’ll have the freedom to drive where and whenever you like. Loreto is a very walkable town, so enjoy strolling by the water and around the scenic streets.
