Things to do in Perugia
Visit the Palazzo dei Priori, a Gothic palace and the pride of Perugia. The building looks fortress-like, but it’s now home to the Galleria Nazionale dell’Umbria. The Nobile Collegio del Cambio also has frescoes by Perugino, who was Raphael’s teacher. See Perugino’s Pieta at the Basilica di San Pietro, where the marble basilica is incredible itself. Stroll around the serene gardens behind the building. Visit the medieval Cathedral of San Lorenzo which overlooks a piazza. Inside the cathedral, you can find famous altarpieces and sculptures. It takes between one and two hours to get to Florence, depending on if you’re driving or taking public transportation. Florence is the capital of Tuscany, and is an absolutely beautiful day trip. The Uffizi Gallery holds incredible Renaissance art, with some of the most famous works by Raphael, da Vinci, and Michelangelo. Michelangelo’s David is also on display at the Galleria dell’Academia.
