Things to do in Tobermory
In Tobermory, find yourself at some of the most incredible natural spots in the world. Visit the Grotto, a cave that was carved out by waves of the Georgian Bay. The Grotto has an underwater tunnel, and is one of Tobermory’s main attractions. Swim in the Grotto’s beautiful blue water! You need to take a ferry out to Flowerpot Island, and then a short hike up to the “flowerpot” pillars. The natural sea stacks really do resemble flowerpots. On the island, find all kinds of caves and trails to explore. Underwater is where Tobermory shines. Discover underwater shipwrecks, submerged forests and canyons. Tobermory is close to some fantastic day-trip destinations. First of all, take the day trip into your own hands by hiking the Bruce Trail from Tobermory to Niagara Falls. This free public footpath has cliffs and views on the trail that stretches hundreds of miles. The best views are closer to Tobermory, so you’re in luck. Spend the day travelling the trail! An hour drive away from Tobermory is Sauble Beach, a resort town with one of the most glorious beaches. With a seven mile stretch of sand, Sauble is one of the longest freshwater beaches in the world. Go swimming, windsurfing, fishing or water-skiing — the opportunities seem as endless as the beach.
