Known for its vast wilderness and countless beaches on the shores of Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario is an ideal getaway for the city-slicker. The city is small and close to the Manitoba boundary. Things to do in Kenora
Head out to Lake of the Woods for a beautiful day in the sun. This lake is over 70 miles both long and wide, and contains more than 14,500 islands along with 65,000 miles of shoreline. It is partially located in Minnesota, and so it’s technically the sixth largest freshwater lake in the U.S. right after the Great Lakes. Check out Coney Island Beach, where a playground, public beaches, concession stands, and picnic areas await. Rent a canoe or paddleboard and cruise around the water. Or, bring a beach towel and lay out on Keewatin Beach for a relaxing day in the sun. If you like to get out and explore the area on your vacations, Kenora has a trail for that. The Rat Portage Urban Trail mixes city sidewalks with wilderness, as it winds through the city past the shops and restaurants and gives visitors a view of the art murals and harbor front. If you’re more interested in a real hiking adventure, try the Kenora Nordic Trails. Mt. Evergreen Ski Hill. The Nordic Trails are a series of trails that weave though forests and rocky ridges, offering hikers incredible views of Lake of the Woods.

Winnipeg is just a 2.5 hour drive from Kenora, making it a great place to visit on a day trip. While there, you can indulge yourself at Thermea, a spa with all the amenities you could ask for.
