Devonshire Beach is a little under 3 hours away from the city, and is the perfect place to go to escape the city life and relax on the beach. About an hour east of the city is Vegreville, home to the Vegreville Egg—the world’s biggest psyanka (Ukrainian-style Easter Egg). Another hour away from Edmonton is Pembina River, where people come out and spend the day tubing along the river. A short 20-minute drive away is the St. Albert Farmers’ Market, where you can pick up some fresh produce and enjoy some live street performances. Another short distance away is the Edmonton Corn Maze, a fun place to go with the kids from late July until Halloween, when the maze turns into a haunted Farm of Fear, only for those 13 and up. For a picnic and some bird-watching, stop by the Clifford E. Lee nature sanctuary, the perfect place for you to explore the wildlife and wetlands in the area.
