Things to do in Port Douglas
If you’re visiting Port Douglas, you don’t want to miss your opportunity to see the Great Barrier Reef. The reef was named one of the seven natural wonders of the world and is the world’s biggest single structure made by living organisms. It can even be seen from outer space! The natural beauty consists of open eucalyptus forests, wetlands, and unparalleled biological diversity. The park also has a prolific birdlife, as there are more than 430 bird species within the forest. The Mossman River and Gorge are popular attractions for visitors to the park, and provide water to the lush tropical flora and fauna in the forest. Take some time and explore Daintree National Park and you’ll be wandering through the world’s oldest living rainforest. Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas is the place to go to soak up some sunshine during your stay. Beginning at the northern rocky headland, this beach stretches for miles, much of it on undeveloped land. Located on the western shores of Port Douglas, Four Mile Beach is easily accessible from the center of town. You can also walk to Trinity Bay Lookout, a tourist-favorite.
