Things to do in Byron Bay
The Cape Byron Light is an active lighthouse located on Australia’s most easterly point and is listed on the Australian National Heritage List. It’s also Australia’s most powerful lighthouse. Constructed in the mid-19th century, the lighthouse and the opening day took place on December 1st, 1901. Now, the lighthouse attracts over 500,000 visitors every year and is a great spot for whale watching. The lighthouse is also set on the cape Byron State Conservation Area, where sheltered rainforest gullies and subtropical waters are home to turtles, dolphins and other mammals. Take a trip to the lighthouse and enjoy the view and surrounding conservation area! The Crystal Castle and Shambhala Gardens are a popular spot in the Byron Bay hinterlands. You’ll feel like you escaped into a charming, magical place when you see the incredibly large crystal formations and gems. In fact, you can touch the World Peace Stupa, a project blessed by the Dalai Lama himself! Start at the Shambhala Gardens and take a stroll through some of the most exquisite landscaped subtropical gardens.
