Election Day 2012: where to travel if the election doesn't go your way

Dear Obama and Romney,

It's Election Day 2012, and one of you will be the next President of the United States.

The other will suddenly have some time on their hands.

We've compiled a list of amazing places where you can get away and relax in a few weeks.

Take a peek!

Emerald Cay, Turks & Caicos

You'll get your own private island, where you'll be able to see the paparazzi coming from miles away. And if any of them try to get too close, you can always just use your remote controlled swing bridge to keep them at bay. Not quite your style? Check out other vacation rentals in the area.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

The happy beats of reggae music have been shown to reverse the symptoms of certain cancers in mice. Okay, so we just totally made that up, but the crystalline waters, white sand beaches and lush tropical forest will certainly lift your spirits!

Switzerland

Head to a peaceful cabin tucked away in the Swiss Alps. The beautiful surroundings are sure to help you reach the ultimate state of relaxation.

Costa Rica

As "the happiest country on earth," Costa Rica's a perfect destination to beat the post- Election Day blues. Here's to Pura Vida!

New Zealand

It's spring in New Zealand, so it's the perfect time of year to visit! If you're totally drained and just want to hang out in your pajamas all day, that's cool. You can just sit on your deck and watch the sunset with Michelle or Ann or get in a few laps before dinner.

On a final note: it's still the rainy/hurricane season in some of these destinations, so hopping on a jet plane there right away is not the best idea. But with Thanksgiving around the corner, you'll probably want to hang out stateside a while, then head off to paradise once the season wraps up, at the very end of the month.
