Venice Information

About Venice Vacation Rentals

If you are planning to take a trip to this beautiful city in Italy, be sure to check the weather! Being on a lagoon, the city tends to flood when it rains or when the tide gets high, making it nearly impossible to walk around and enjoy the city. Spring and Fall are the best times to visit Venice because there’s a compromise between good weather and a good tourist load. Full of history, romance, and pure beauty, you can never go wrong with paying “The Floating City” a visit.

Things to do in Venice

Venice’s main attraction is all of the rich history that still lives on today. What makes the city so unique is that it still stands almost exactly as it did 600 years ago. There are a number of Churches worth your time simply for the amazing architecture and history. Saint Mark Basilica on the Piazza San Marco, San Giacomo di Rialto (the oldest church in Venice), and the San Giovanni e Paolo are some of the most popular. Wander through 500 years of history in Doge’s Palace and experience the Bell Tower of St. Mark, complete with breathtaking views of Venice and the lagoon. Not far away, Rialto market and Rialto Bridge is a cute area to shop and check out the fantastic cuisine. Shopping in Venice is always an option. Shops and stands await for you around every corner. If you are a traveller who doesn’t like to take tours and you like to explore on your own, Zattere is a sunny walk along the Giudecca Canal that shows you much of Venice’s history and beauty simply by walking through town. Seeing the city by water is also a popular tourist activity. Riding a Vaporetto (water bus) down the Grand Canal at or right before the sunset is absolutely stunning. Additionally, Gondola rides are very popular but can be expensive.

Venice Accommodations

The closest commercial airport is the Marco Polo Airport. From here, tourists can travel by city bus and shuttle buses to Piazzale Roma. Once in Venice, there is no need for a car because it is a very walkable city. Understandably, walking can be pretty exhausting so there are also water buses and taxis that allow you to travel all over the ancient city. Whatever your travel needs may be, Tripping.com has your Italian getaway covered!
