About Spokane
Spokane is the second largest city in the Pacific Northwest state of Washington. It’s located about 90 miles south of the Canadian Border in the eastern part of Washington and on the opposite side of the state from Seattle. Spokane is a beautiful city and is home to the Spokane River that flows right through the city, where it cascades over a series of waterfalls right in the heart of downtown.
Things to Do in Spokane
Spokane has a great natural side to it and is home to a number of beautiful parks. Manito Park is one of the most popular spots in Spokane. The 90-acre park has five gardens that are beautifully manicured, a conservatory and duck pond that are toured by over 150,000 visitors each year. Downtown Spokane also has Riverfront Park, which is centrally located in the heart of downtown on both banks of the Spokane River and it was the host of the 1974 World’s Fair. The park is well maintained and a great spot for an afternoon of relaxing and enjoying the weather. You can also view the beautiful Spokane Falls from Riverfront Park where the Spokane River crashes over a series of waterfalls in the heart of the city before entering the Spokane River Gorge. The Centennial Trail runs along the Spokane River runs through the Spokane Valley and downtown Spokane ending in Riverside State Park. It’s a nationally recognized trail and is great for biking and running as well as very scenic views. After you enjoy the Centennial Trail, you’ll end at Riverside State Park, which is a beautiful natural area in Spokane. It’s a 14,000-acre camping park along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers and has freshwater marshes, running rivers, great rock formations and spectacular views of the landscape. The park also includes the Nine Mile Recreation Area, which is available for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating. The Davenport Arts District surrounds the historic Davenport Hotel on the western side of downtown. The Davenport Arts District is home to many art galleries, restaurants and boutiques. Spokane is also a great place for golf. There are 33 golf courses within a short drive of the city center. The City of Spokane operates four public golf courses, including the award winning Indian Canyon.

While you won’t be able to accomplish a day trip to western Washington where you’ll find the popular areas of Seattle, Mount Rainier, Glacier National Park and Mt.
