Spokane is the second largest city in the Pacific Northwest state of Washington. It’s located about 90 miles south of the Canadian Border in the eastern part of Washington and on the opposite side of the state from Seattle. Spokane is a beautiful city and is home to the Spokane River that flows right through the city, where it cascades over a series of waterfalls right in the heart of downtown.

It’s a nationally recognized trail and is great for biking and running as well as very scenic views. After you enjoy the Centennial Trail, you’ll end at Riverside State Park, which is a beautiful natural area in Spokane. It’s a 14,000-acre camping park along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers and has freshwater marshes, running rivers, great rock formations and spectacular views of the landscape. The park also includes the Nine Mile Recreation Area, which is available for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and boating. The Davenport Arts District surrounds the historic Davenport Hotel on the western side of downtown. The Davenport Arts District is home to many art galleries, restaurants and boutiques. Spokane is also a great place for golf. There are 33 golf courses within a short drive of the city center. The City of Spokane operates four public golf courses, including the award winning Indian Canyon.

While you won’t be able to accomplish a day trip to western Washington where you’ll find the popular areas of Seattle, Mount Rainier, Glacier National Park and Mt.
