In Smith Mountain Lake, boating, water skiing, canoeing, jet-skiing, and sailing are the name of the game. Fishing for striped bass and many other species’ is also a prized sport. Smith Mountain Lake boat rentals can get you started, or you can take a ride on the Virginia Dare, a 19th century paddlewheel for a two hour cruise on the lake. You can also set up camp nearby! Golf courses such as Mariner’s Landing, Sycamore Ridge and The Westlake are open almost all year round, and make for a great day away from the lake. The Brooks Mill Winery and the Sunken City Brewing Company also let you taste wine and beer made right there in Virginia. Find shops and restaurants around and near the lake, some with water-front views so you can watch the sunset in style! The Smith Mountain Lake State Park has miles of hiking trails also for you to explore.
