Clifton Forge is a town of 3,000 in the Roanoke Region of Virginia. The town has a rich history as a railroad town, beginning with the first passenger train in 1857. That tradition continues today with Amtrak’s thrice-weekly service. Clifton Forge also enjoys a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. Douthat State Park, located in Clifton Forge, was one of the original state parks in Virginia. It was built during Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps.
