Kimball Junction is an area just 6 miles north of Park City in Summit County, Utah. The terrain is rugged and mountainous, with the highest elevation of all the counties in Utah. Kimball Junction is best known as a part of Park City, an upscale getaway for those in nearby Salt Lake City and beyond. Things to do in Kimball Junction

The Kimball Junction Center is a main stop for first-timers to the area. It’s where guests can grab a quick pick-me-up, get staff recommendations, or find exclusive offers for deals in town. There’s another visitor information center inside the Park City Museum in Park City’s historic district. You’ll find visitor information specialists who’ll be more than happy to share their 35+ years of collective experience with you. Park City is home to some of the best ski resorts in the nation. The Park City Mountain Resort, The Canyons and Deer Valley Resort are all top-notch destinations in the winter. The Guardsman Pass Scenic Byway is the road you want to take if you’re heading out of Kimball Junction. It’s also a short drive if you want to take a sightseeing day trip. Kimball Junction is 35 minutes from Salt Lake City, if you want to see what Utah’s capital has to offer. The city’s Temple Square, Salt Lake Tabernacle and Liberty Park are noted sights downtown. If you’re feeling like a fish out of water in Kimball Junction, Strawberry Reservoir is home to quality trout and salmon. This number one fishery in Utah is 50 miles from Kimball Junction. The site offers activities like boating and mountain biking in the summer, and skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. Rockport State Park is a day trip for outdoor enthusiasts just waiting to happen. There’s a 3-mile, man-made lake for all sorts of water activities like windsurfing and kayaking. Wildlife watching and hiking are popular activities at Rockport State Park as well. It’s just 17 miles away, perfect for a picnic, a day trip, or even an overnight camping excursion. Heber Valley Railroad is also around 17 miles away, and is ideal for those who like trains, history or fine scenery. Transportation in Kimball Junction

Kimball Junction is just just off I-80 at exit 145, if you’re driving into town. If you need to catch a flight, the closest airport is Salt Lake International Airport, just 35 minutes away. There are several transportation options that will get you from the airport to Park City including limos, vans and buses. Once you make it into town, Kimball Junction gets free local transit courtesy of Park City. The intra-city transit system includes routes to Canyons Village, Deer Valley Resort Park Meadows, Pinebrook and Thaynes Canyon (to name a few) in addition to Kimball Junction. Park City also offers trolleys that run along Main Street to Old Town Transit Center, with connections to main routes and hubs. Taxis, private charters and bike rentals are transportation alternatives that come with a cost.
