Things to Do in Franklin
One of the major attractions in Franklin is the Great American Main Street, which is brimming with shopping, music and history. Here, visitors can stroll around 16 blocks of boutiques and gift shops, antique and vintage stores, and art galleries. Another recommended place to visit is Leiper’s Fork Distillery, which is located in a 200-year-old cabin and crafts premium spirits with local ingredients, offering tours and tastings from Tuesday through Saturday at $10 per person. Pay respects to the historic Battle of Franklin by visiting Carnton Plantation, which stands as a memorial and became a field hospital for Confederate soldiers. Every year in November, The Battle of Franklin Trusts hosts the Annual Illumination, where 10,000 luminaries are laid out to represent the casualties from the 1864 battle. Spend the day shopping at CoolSprings Galleria, which has more than 150 specialty stores and is newly remodeled. Franklin is also home to numerous annual events, including the WillPower 5k, which is an annual race in April that follows a scenic course through Downtown Franklin, as well as the Craftmasters Series, which pairs restaurant chefs with a local distillery or brewery to create craft product-inspired menus in support of local organizations.
Day Trips Near Franklin
Head to Nashville, which is less than half an hour away by car, and every year hosts the Nashville Elvis Festival that honors the legacy of the late Elvis Presley. Fall Creek Falls are located in Spencer, TN and offer beautiful waterfalls and the opportunity to hike, picnic or camp overnight. Head to Lookout Mountain, which is right on the border of Tennessee and Georgia, offering beautiful views.
