When thinking of great views of the Pacific Ocean, oftentimes California comes to mind but Oregon also has beautiful view of the Ocean. The city is also home to the Seaside Aquarium featuring regional marine life, a discovery center, and a 35 foot Gray Whale skeleton, as well as the Lewis & Clark monument. Visitors can also opt for Arcadia Beach State Recreation Site which is a beach and state park about two miles south of Cannon Beach. Visitors can also opt for Seaside Carousel Mall is located only two blocks away from the Pacific Ocean making for a fantastic outing. Located just 10 minutes south of Seaside, Cannon Beach is best known for its art galleries and beautiful natural wonders. On the beach, Haystack Rock is sight to behold with tide pools at its base. Located just 18 miles from Seaside, visitors can witness the oldest settlement west of the Rockies at the historic seaport of Astoria on the Columbia River. The city of Astoria has a riverfront walk and a trolley that follows the historic waterfront district. About 18 miles east of Seaside is the Saddle Mount State Natural Area which is known for its rugged trail to the top of the mountain. The Spring and Summer seasons display beautiful colorful and diverse wildflowers.
