About Florence
Florence, a quiet coastal town off of Highway 101, has a population of about 8,500 people. Though the way that Florence got its name is still in question, we do know that it was historically a port town. Lumber and fishing were important commodities to maintain the local economy. That port, called the Port of Siuslaw, is still active today, though it is a separate government entity from the City of Florence. In Florence, there are many lighthouses, beaches, and opportunities for wildlife viewing! Things to do in Florence Visit the beautiful Heceta Head Lighthouse just north of Florence.
