About Florence

Florence, a quiet coastal town off of Highway 101, has a population of about 8,500 people. Though the way that Florence got its name is still in question, we do know that it was historically a port town. Lumber and fishing were important commodities to maintain the local economy. That port, called the Port of Siuslaw, is still active today, though it is a separate government entity from the City of Florence. In Florence, there are many lighthouses, beaches, and opportunities for wildlife viewing!
