Cincinnati is located in southwest Ohio on the Ohio River and is the third largest city in the state. Things to Do in Cincinnati
Fountain Square has been the focal point of Cincinnati since 1871 where the beautiful Tyler Davidson Fountain sits and there is often live entertainment in the square day to day. There’s also great shopping and restaurants around the square as well. Cincinnati is home to a large number of great museums to check out as well. The Cincinnati Museum Center offers a Cincinnati History Museum, a children’s museum and the Museum of Natural History and Science. You can also find the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Taft Museum of Art, and more interestingly, you can go to the unique and creative American Sign Museum, which is a lot of fun. Check out Music Hall, built in 1878, which is one of the most beautiful buildings in the city and offers opera, orchestra and other theatre performances. The Cincinnati Zoo is one of the best in the United States and is the second oldest (1875) and it’s a great outing where you can experiences dozens of animal demonstrations and talks throughout the day as well as opportunities to feed giraffes and see all kinds of beautiful animals like elephants, cheetahs, African lions and more. For sports, Cincinnati has the Reds MLB baseball team and you can catch games April through September at Great American Ballpark or you can see a Cincinnati Bengals NFL football game at Paul Brown Stadium, which is a stadium located in the city.
Cincinnati Day Trips
Dayton, Ohio is about an hour drive from Cincinnati and is known as the Birthplace of Aviation. Here you can find world-class historical aviation attractions like National Museum of the U.S. Air Force and the Dayton Aviation National Historical Park. Dayton is a very charming city and is great for a day trip out of Cincinnati. Another great day trip is about an hour away in Indiana at Whitewater Memorial State Park, which houses Brookville Lake. If you’re looking to get out of the city, this is a great place to do so where you can enjoy hiking in the state park, canoeing in the lake, enjoying the beach, as well as horseback riding and golfing. Another across state lines day trip venture could be the city of Lexington, Kentucky, which is a little over an hour drive from Cincinnati. Lexington is a great college town as it is home to the University of Kentucky and there is plenty to do to fill your day up. You can visit the world famous horse farms and even catch a horse race at the famous Keeneland Racetrack if you’re visiting in the months of April or October, which is what draws many to the Lexington area.
