North Topsail Beach Information

At the northern end of Topsail Island and off the coast of southeastern North Carolina lies the Town of North Topsail Beach. The name comes from New Topsail Inlet, but local folklore states that Topsail Island (pronounced Tops'l) gets its name because pirate ships hid behind the island with their topsails visible from the sea. Whatever theory you'd like to believe, it's clear that Topsail Island has a rich and varied history and is a fantastic vacation destination. North Topsail Beach is a little over 6 square miles meaning you can easily get around town by foot. To get to Topsail Island itself, there are two bridges. The easiest and most direct route is to take NC-210 W, but you can also get to North Topsail Beach through Surf City by taking NC-50 S and heading northeast on N New River Drive.
