There are even waterfalls to check out, so make sure you get your $5 tube rental for the day and enjoy some sunshine and natural scenery.

Speaking of the Great Smoky Mountains, you’ll be overwhelmed by their beauty when you visit Bryson City. Take a day to explore the countless hiking trails within this National Park. For a moderate, but long, hike, try Martin’s Gap Loop. Nolan Creek Trail is an easy out and back, 6-mile trail with a gentle grade. You can even hike through some of the Appalachian Trail. One of the more popular section of it in Bryson City is from Newfound Gap to Charlie’s Bunion, an 8-mile round-trip trek that will give you a taste of what hikers who complete the whole Appalachian Trail experience!

Just a little over an hour east of Bryson City is where you’ll find Asheville, the city with the most breweries per capita in the entire U.S. It’s no wonder it earned the nickname Beer City in 2009.
