Rochester, New York is a beautiful mid-sized city located on the banks of Lake Ontario located east of Buffalo and west of Syracuse. More great fun for the whole family resides in the Seabreeze Amusement Park, which houses over 70 attractions from roller coasters, waterslides and rides for small children as well. Also be sure to visit the Seneca Park Zoo. Rochester is home to the world’s oldest museum dedicated to photography and one of the world’s oldest film archives in the George Eastman House Museum. Eastman is the founder of Kodak and the house was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1966 and is definitely a must-visit when travelling to Rochester. Rochester is also home to the National Susan B. Anthony Museum and House, which offers great history on Anthony and the women’s rights movement. At the Memorial Art Gallery, you can see great collections from medieval to contemporary works, with paintings by Rembrandt & Monet. Another interesting place to visit is Artisan Works, which is a non-profit in a huge warehouse that has a labyrinth of hallways and levels where every square inch is covered with art, mostly in the form of paintings or sculptures. The gallery also has many local artists often working in studios that you may be able to see working during your visit. The most beautiful spot in Rochester is arguably Highland Park where you can see hundreds of varieties of blooming flowers and it’s a great place to relax and unwind and enjoy a peaceful walk.
