Take advantage of being right next to California while you’re staying in Reno. Sacramento, the capital of California, is only a two-hour drive from Reno. Wander around the Old Sacramento State Historic Park, go to a Kings game, or see a show at Crest Theatre. Visit the Sacramento Zoo, check out the Crocker Art Museum, and take your kids to Fairytale Town. You can also take a day trip to San Francisco, which is about a three hour and 15 minute drive. In San Francisco you can walk and eat your way through Pier 39. Look for sea lions at Fisherman’s Wharf and visit the famous Golden Gate Bridge. San Jose is also within driving distance of Reno. It is about three hours and 45 minutes by car, depending on traffic. Walk around the San Jose Flea Market, which is the biggest open-air market in the country.
