Henderson Information
About Henderson
Henderson is the second largest city in Nevada, and neighbours the one and only Las Vegas. Located in Clark County, Henderson is known for being one of the safest cities in America, as well as having a very high standard of living. This city in rocky, sandy and dusty Nevada is a peaceful haven in comparison to, and on the outskirts of, the Las Vegas empire.
Things to do in Henderson
Henderson is a large but relaxed city, with a ton of activities for its residents and visitors. Lake Las Vegas (not to be confused with Vegas itself) is a man-made lake with resorts built around it. Relaxation meets glamour here, as there are opportunities for both casino-hopping or fishing. This contrast is uniquely Henderson, as its calm away from the Vegas hype draws visitors eager for both moods. Get a little further into nature by hiking Henderson’s Black Mountain, accessible from September until May. The hike is 5.6 miles and can take a few hours, but bring plenty of water and sunscreen anyway! The Clark County Heritage Museum helps you learn a little about your surroundings, as the Native American history and historic houses are emphasized. There’s even a recreation of a ghost town — tumbleweeds and all. The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve brings you back to nature, filled with ponds and walking paths. Bring your binoculars to observe the varieties of wildlife. Fall is the best time for this activity, and the Preserve is open until 2pm (except during summer.)
