About St. Louis

St. Louis, Missouri is the largest city in the state and is located on the eastern side of Missouri, just before crossing into Illinois. The city was named after King Louis IX of France and is known as “The Gateway to the West” because it was the last major stop before the pioneers went westward to the Pacific. This is symbolized by the most iconic structure in the city, the Gateway Arch, which is located right on the banks of the Mississippi River.
