Things to do in Old Orchard Beach

During peak season, rides open at 11am on Saturday and on Sunday, and weekdays at noon. The park stays open based on weather and attendance, usually until around 10pm. Make sure not to miss the special firework show, which takes place is every Thursday night at 9:45pm.
Travelers may also enjoy the golf course near the waterfront. The Dungrass Golf Club near the beach is a great place to step away from tourist activities to relax. Kids are also allowed to play 18 holes and adults can play golf on a much larger course.

If you are interested in seeing more wildlife, kayaks and canoes are available for rent, and guided tours are offered. This is a great family day trip that is a short drive from the beach. Another fun day trip is taking a trip to Portland, 15 miles to the north. With amazing food, outdoors adventures, museums and historic sites, you may want to spend a few nights there. Portland has many summer festivals and concerts, which are perfect for the whole family or a great date night. If you’re hit with less-than-ideal weather during your stay, enjoy spending the day looking at the stars at the Southworth Planetarium on the University of Southern Maine Campus in Portland, only a 22-minute drive from the beach.
