Baton Rouge has some charming and eclectic activities for you and the family. The Shaw Centre for the Arts is a building that covers almost an entire block, and is packed with theatres and galleries. The gallery is open from 9am-11pm Tuesday to Saturday, with shorter opening times on Sunday and Monday. The gallery has both permanent and new exhibits at the LSU Museum of Art within the building. The galleries feature the art of Louisiana and its history, hoping to bring in more and more. The Louisiana Art and Science Museum (closed on Mondays) is ideal for younger families and kids, mixing art and science in an inspiring way. Downtown Baton Rouge is booming with activities, as its cool bar scene helps you let loose amongst the history, restaurants and music. Downtown is also walking distance to the river front view of the Mississippi. We can’t forget Baton Rouge’s annual Mardi Gras parade, as a trip in February can get festive, if not a little wild.

Any visitor in Louisiana however is going to want to see “the big easy.” Take a memorable trip to New Orleans, an hour and a half drive from Baton Rouge. Take in the nightlife, music, and incredible food. Visit New Orleans around Mardi Gras for that extra kick!
