Lake Burton Information

About Lake Burton

Lake Burton is a near 3000-acre reservoir in northeast Georgia. Whether you’re planning a long term stay, or just want to visit University of Alabama football head coach Nick Saban’s new lake house, Lake Burton provides fun for the whole family.

Things to do around Lake Burton

Lake Burton is home to a variety of different fun towns and activities. On the lake, you can spend your days relaxing on the boat or chatting and enjoying good food at LaPrade’s Marina. For a little more fun, you can try your hand at jet skiing or paddle boarding. If you’re feeling a bit nostalgic or want to have some fun with the kids, the Babyland General Hospital is home to thousands of Cabbage Patch Kids ready for adoption. Taking a solo trip, or just a trip with some friends? Stop by the Persimmon on the Square wine tasting room in the town of Clayton, or get a little adventurous and go white water rafting down the Chattooga River. Outdoors fans should head to the Georgia Mountains and go for a hike, or just explore the beauty of the mountains from The Dillard House nearby. For a more relaxing day, head to the town of Tiger and catch a drive-in movie, or tour one of the vineyards in the area like Stone Creek Vineyards.

Lake Burton Day Trips

There are plenty of fun cities to visit for a day during your Lake Burton vacation. Head out to the town of Tallulah Falls and spend the day with the family exploring the waterfall and Tallulah Falls Lake. For a break from all the outdoor fun, travel down to Clarkesville and spend the day shopping or making crafts. Planning a girl’s day out, or a romantic day tri for two? Travel east to Clayton and enjoy wine tastings at Persimmon on the Square, or enjoy quality time together at the soda fountain at the Clayton Pharmacy. For a little taste of small town living, travel up to Dillard and shop at specialty boutiques and enjoy food at some of the locally owned restaurants in the area. For a more historic small town vibe, travel to Lakemont and enjoy some more fun outdoors while surrounded by beautiful scenery.

Lake Burton Accommodations

Whether you plan on spending your entire vacation lakeside, or want to take a day trip to one of the small towns in the area, we make it easy for you to find the perfect place to stay. We recommend choosing a rental near the northeast side of the lake if you’re planning day trips to places like Dillard or Clayton, both located near the northern edge of the state. If you aren’t planning a day trip up north, there are a variety of rentals located near the southern end of the lake, which is perfect if you want to spend your entire vacation by the lake, or if you are planning a day trip somewhere south like Tallulah Falls or Clarkesville. Looking for a fun hiking trip? Choose a rental close to the western side of the lake, which will put you right next to the Moccasin Creek State Park. No matter where you decide to stay, you can compare rentals by price, ratings, reviews and more on Tripping. Book your Lake Burton rental today!

Transportation around Lake Burton

Since Lake Burton is bordered by a variety of different small towns, there are many public transportation options—most people get around by taking the boat across the lake! When it comes to travelling on land, we recommend renting a car at one of the rental services nearby like Enterprise.
