There’s so much to see, and campgrounds for you to stay at. Zapata Falls gives you a great view of the Sand Dunes, with lots of hiking trails around. In winter, the falls freeze beautifully, or rush by in summer. The Rio Grande Scenic Railroad excursion is a train ride that will take you through the mountains, with unbelievable views. Explore the trails, and even go camping. Santa Fe in New Mexico is two and a half hour drive away from Alamosa, but definitely worth the trip.
