About Mammoth Lakes

Mammoth Lakes, a small California mountain town, is located near Mount Morrison. It began as a mining camp in the late 1800s, attracting European settlers from all over to get rich from California gold. However, the miners scattered once the Mammoth Mining Company shut down, decimating the population. It wasn’t until 100 years later that Mammoth Lakes was incorporated. Today, this small town is the top ski destination in California and allows visitors many opportunities for outdoor adventure all year long.
