Los Angeles is about two hours away from Joshua Tree by driving. Walk along the Hollywood Walk of Fame or go shopping on Hollywood Boulevard and at Third Street Promenade. Note that there is no public transportation that can take you directly to Joshua Tree Park. It therefore may be best to rent a car. It is suggested that you drive down either California Highway 62 or Interstate 10 to get to the park. Typing in the address to your GPS does not always work, and you may end up going down some difficult back roads that could easily be avoided. It is also useful to have a car if you are planning on taking day trips to other parts of California, such as San Diego or Long Beach. The MBTA bus goes through Joshua Tree and nine surrounding towns, including Yucca Valley and Landers.
