Bel Air Information

About Bel Air

Bel Air is a small neighborhood in the Westside region of Los Angeles, California. It is notable for its affluence and famous residents. Iconic celebrities who have lived in Bel Air estates include filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock, actor Leonard Nimoy, and actress Elizabeth Taylor. As the upscale neighborhood spans less than 6.5 square miles and is home to merely several thousand residents, Bel Air has one of the lowest population densities in Los Angeles County.

Things to do in Bel Air

The heart of the Bel Air community comprises the historic Hotel Bel-Air, American Jewish University, and Bel-Air Country Club. Boasting a nostalgic Hollywood ambiance and acres of surrounding gardens, Hotel Bel-Air is a picturesque boutique hotel that once housed celebrity guests such as actress Audrey Hepburn, actor Paul Newman, and singer Judy Garland. The hotel provides dozens of fantastic photo ops with its lovely gardens and glitzy décor. The American Jewish University features many galleries and museums to educate its students and visitors about Judaism. At the university, visitors can explore the Borstein Art Gallery, Marjorie and Herman Platt Gallery, and Ostrow Library which has one of the largest collections of Jewish media and electronic resources on the West Coast. Founded in 1925, the Bel-Air Country Club is a culturally significant spot that serves as the neighborhood’s primary social club. It offers tennis courts and an 18-hole golf course.
