Thousands come to Homer each year for some of the best fishing and hiking in Alaska. Go on a fishing trip with Homer Ocean Charters for halibut and salmon fishing around Kachemak Bay. Whales and sea otters are often spotted in the waters, so be sure to bring your camera! Go on a bear tour to see even more wildlife—you may even catch the bears fishing for salmon! Day Trips from Homer
Homer is quite literally the end of the road, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t places in the area to explore! Take a ferry to the quaint town of Seldovia for only $45 round trip. Seldovia has a historic boardwalk, kayaking and even more fishing adventures. Water taxis are also offered to surrounding islands, like Glacier Spit. Drive about three and half hours or take a bus to Katmai National Park for a hike to Exit Glacier. The glacier is unique in that you can go right up to it and see all of its beauty.
