Satisfy your sweet tooth with a tour of the Cadbury Chocolate Factory and indulge and the cafe. Tickets to the one-hour tour cost $22 for adults and include samples of some of Cadbury’s most popular sweets. Home to the University of Otago, the city has a fun nightlife with the famous Speight’s Brewery. Explore Dunedin’s wild side in all-terrain jeep tour--a great way to explore the peninsula and experience local wildlife including yellow eyed penguins and sea lions. Dunedin also has a stunning botanical garden and Chinese garden, making your trip to New Zealand a dream.

Day Trips from Dunedin

The South Island of New Zealand where Dunedin is located is known for its natural wonders, making Dunedin a great base for exploring. Drive an hour north to see the famous Moeraki Boulders, a beach filled with spherical boulders perfect for photographing. A drive to the other side of the island will take about three hours, but offers the opportunity to see glaciers, Fiordland National Park and more wildlife. Make a weekend trip to the area and be sure to stop in Queenstown, known for its majestic setting in the Southern Alps. Perfect for skiing in the winter (June, July and August) and hiking in the summer. If you’re feeling really adventurous, try bungee jumping off the Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge.
