Acapulco Information

About Acapulco

Acapulco, Mexico is known for having some of the best beaches in the world. With warm weather all year round, Acapulco has become a top vacation destination. Aside from being known for its beaches, Acapulco is also known for its sightseeing, nightlife, and culture.

Things to Do in Acapulco

Go on a cruise around Coyuca Lagoon, which is one of the most scenic areas of Acapulco and has been used as a setting in several movies. Some boat tours in the Coyuca Lagoon allow you to release baby turtles into the ocean. Take advantage of all the beautiful beaches you are in close proximity to while staying in Acapulco. One of the most popular beaches is Playa Condesa, which is a great beach for watersports, such as jet skiing, or to just spend the day relaxing and sunbathing. Another beach to check out is Playa Icacos. Another large beach, Playa Icacos is a great location for boating and parasailing. If you’ve worked up an appetite after spending all day at the beach, try going to Zibu or El Cabrito Restaurante for dinner. Zibu has unique dishes that combine Mexican food with Asian ingredients. El Cabrito Restaurante is known for its’ authentic Mexican food. Acapulco is also known for having extravagant nightlife, filled with dancing and panoramic views. Some of the most popular clubs are Palladium, El Alebrije, and Mandara.

Day Trips Near Acapulco

While staying in Acapulco, make sure to explore other parts of Mexico if you have the time to. Barra Vieja is about an hour drive from Acapulco and is a great beach for horseback riding. Many tour boats also launch from this beach. If you’re looking for a cultural adventure and a day away from the beach, try visiting Sitio Arquelogica Palma Sola, which is less than an hour drive from Acapulco. At Sitio Arquelogica Palma Sola, you can view ancient petroglyphs that are 2,000 years old. Another good day trip to make is to Chilpancingo, which is the capital of the state of Guerrero in Mexico. Chilpancingo is about an hour and a half drive from Acapulco. In Chilpancingo, you can explore the Cacahuamilpa Grotto and the Zoochilpan Zoo.

Acapulco Accommodation

If you are looking for a more historic and less commercial area, you may want to consider renting in Old Acapulco. Old Acapulco is known for its’ town square and 400 year old Spanish fort. La Costera is a more commercial and touristy area. Stay in La Costera if you want to be near nightlife and restaurants. If you want to stay on or near the beach, then the Peninsula de las Playas may be the right place for you. Wherever you choose to stay, Tripping can help you compare all of the rentals in the area by price, ratings, reviews, and more. Book your Acapulco vacation rental today!

Transportation in Acapulco

If you are planning to spend most of your vacation time in Acapulco on or near the beach, it is probably best not to rent a car. Renting a car in Mexico can be expensive because even though rates often appear low, they normally don’t include insurance, which is expensive. If you have a limited budget and won’t be making many day trips, relying on taxis is a more practical option.
