About Bellagio
Bellagio is on Lake Como, a beautiful and serene Italian setting. In Lombardy, Bellagio’s waterfront is a dream, and a popular destination for visitors to relax and take advantage of the weather. With great food and incredible scenery, you’ll never want to leave “the Pearl of Lake Como.”
Things to do in Bellagio
Lake Como is Y-shaped, with the two branches called the Como and Lecco arms. Take a leisurely ride around the lake, there are all kinds of boat rides for you to experience. Villa Melzi has some of the most incredible botanical gardens, filled with lush flowers. The Villa has a history that dates back to the vice president of the Italian Republic in the 1800s. Although the building isn’t open to visitors, the gardens are still one of the most popular destinations around. See the Basilica of San Giacomo from the 11th and 12th centuries, which was updated to 18th century style. This national monument is striking, and is a must-see while you walk around Bellagio. There are lots of restaurants and shops for you to frequent in town, and lots of little side streets to discover.
Day trips from Bellagio
You can take ferry trips on Lake Como out to other destinations, such as to Varenna on the east short of the lake. Varenna is an incredible day trip, postcard perfect with its colorful houses lining the steep shores. Lugano is about 2 hours away by car, but more on public transportation. Right by the border of Switzerland, Lugano is a beautiful day trip. Head up Monte San Salvatore and Monte Bre for hiking, as well as out on Lake Lugano itself to get onto the water.
