It boasts year-round recreational activities, which is a big draw for many tourists. It’s also a fantastic place to explore the unspoiled nature, take a walk around a gorgeous lake, or stroll through the downtown sops, art galleries, and restaurants. Things to do in Magog
Summers in Magog offer travelers loads of outdoor activities. Parc de la Baie-de-Magog is a great place to start any day. The park offers two access points for swimming in Lake Memphremagog. The beaches on the shores of the lake provide ample space for visitors to lay out in the sun or build a sand castle. The park also has walking paths, grassy areas, and a skate park. Merry Point, the main portion of the park, offers the best view of the lake in the background and fields of flowers to smell. In the winter, Magog’s outdoor activity options are just as plentiful. Sentier Glacé is a 1.5-mile ice path that runs along Lake Memphremagog. Magog also boasts 6 different outdoor ice rinks for visitors to enjoy. Quai MacPherson Wharf, built in 1850 on the easter shore of the lake, is a tourist and local hot spot. In the summer this is a launching point for all lake activities, cruises, and boat tours. In the winter, the place is much quieter and makes for a great lakeside stroll. Another great place to spend the day is at nearby Cep d’Argent and Vignoble Chemin de la Riviere, two vineyards that offer exceptional tastings, tours, and views of Magog. Vignoble Chemin also serves up an ice wine that will quench that summer thirst while Cep d’Argent makes a delicious port you have to try. Don’t forget to grab a bottle for the trip home!
Day Trips from Magog
Mont Orford ski resort is just a 10-minute drive from Magog, another reason Magog is so tourist-friendly. The resort boasts over 50 different trails varying in level of difficulty from easy to extreme and draws in hundred of thousands of visitors a season. In the fall, locals and out-of-towners come to enjoy the foliage colors and hike up the many trails. Orford’s Peak is a favorite spot and here you’ll get a great birds eye view of nearby towns, lakes, and mountains. There are even picnic tables at the summit so be sure to bring snacks!

Transportation in Magog
Getting to Magog from out of the country can be done a number of ways. The Vermont-Quebec border I just a half hour away from Magog, so getting a car and driving up north isn’t a bad choice. You can also fly into Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport and rent a car. The drive from Montreal is just a little over and hour and a half. You can also rent a shuttle bus to transport you to Magog or check with your accommodations to see if they offer a shuttle system to and from the airport.
