Charlottetown, the capital and largest city of Prince Edward Island, is known as the “Birthplace of Confederation” for its role in the debate between the Maritime Union and the British North American Union in 1864. Green Gables Heritage Place, located inside Prince Edward Island National Park, is the setting of the story and still maintains the pastoral beauty of the original story.
