I lived a full year in Madrid, Spain in 1986. It remains to this day one of the best memories of my life. I came home dreaming in Castilian Spanish and have maintained my language to this day through frequent trips abroad and working in jobs that used my language skills. I would recommend a full year to anyone seriously interested in acquiring a foreign language.

depending on how old you are, rotary international is awesome, I'm just at the tail of my exchange in Argentina now. I'm from California, and this last year was the best year of my life so far.

Hello! I'm Brittany and I just discovered this site today. I studied at the Hogeschool van Amsterdam last semester in the Netherlands. I was in classes with Dutch students as well as students from all over the world. Fortunately for me, they were taught in English. What a great experience it all was!

Hey Everyone! I'm curious - when you went abroad, did you spend more time with students from your own country or with local students?

I'm from the US (New England area), but I honestly spent more time with French and Canadian students. It was very refreshing.
