The accommodations are exceptional. We loved the decor and the bed is so comfortable. The owners are wonderful to work with and they have gone above and beyond to make this a first class rental. My husband and I travel frequently and this is one of the best experiences we have had. Make sure to try the three coins diner down the road. It is not much to look at on the outside but it has a great breakfast.
Christie & Stuart are excellent hosts. They have made 'Southern Charm' a home from home. It is beautiful accomodation with everything you need. They even thought of us Brits with a kettle and teapot.
If you want to go downtown to Tampa, without your hire-car, there is an excellent bus service into Marion Transit Center with connections from there to the surrounding area. Make sure you buy a Visitor Pass.
What a wonderful two week vacation I had with my roommate. We drove to Florida from CT, and were warmly welcomed by Christie (Stuart was away during our stay). After the long trip, it was great to see that she had the basics for the first night/morning stay - coffee with fixings, cereal, snacks, fruit, and toiletries there too, so we didn't have to rush out to the store. The property is beyond beautiful, and the accommodations top shelf. Beds were so comfortable and the furnishings done in a songbird theme. This craftsman style home was decorated with period furniture (and also the modern updates, like a HUGE television / music system, every utensil and appliance you can think of....). There was not one need that was overlooked. It was such a joy to come back each night after our vacation excursions to a HOME. Close to Lowry Park Zoo, Busch Gardens, and a lovely drive to each of the beaches and aquariums we explored. Sitting outside in the back of the property or on the spacious veranda listening to the songbirds and trickling water from the fountains was wonderfully relaxing in the morning and evening. Christie also suggested that we use Uber transportation for some of our close destinations - it cost less than the parking price and we had door-to-door service exactly when we wanted to go and return! Recommend getting the "City Pass" for touring - saves lots of money and kind of made us see places nearby that we ordinarily would not have thought of. I cannot recommend this rental enough - already have to others, and we will be back to stay when we are in the Tampa area. Thanks for a lovely, lovely vacation at your beautiful home, Christie.
When I choose a place to stay, I have five basic requirements. I want to feel secure and safe. The location has to be convenient to the airport and local attractions, or places we plan to visit. It also has to be clean, comfortable and affordable. This Songbird Property had all this and many extras, including a new toothbrush for my grandson after he conveniently forgot to pack his. My grandchildren and I enjoyed our stay in Tampa!
My daughter and I stayed here for two weeks. She attended a dance program at the conservatory in town. The commute was very convenient from this location and was close to any place in Tampa. The house is less than five minutes drive to I-275. We were 30-60 minutes to the beach (depending on which beach we chose). There are very nice parks nearby for morning walks and seeing some wildlife.
It's a comfortable two bedroom one and a half bath rental. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need. We ate here almost exclusively, which saved a lot of money over the two weeks. The beds were quite comfortable. There is a lovely veranda and garden that I wish I could've enjoyed more but it was very hot and humid at this time. The owners were very nice and helpful. They were readily available if needed. There is parking on the property, off the street and near the door. Very well lit at night. The neighborhood was very quiet at night (except for some occasionally misbehaving frogs).
Loved staying in the historic district in this immaculate and quiet apt. Modern amenities. Decorated with flair. Owners couldn't do enough for you-- so accommodating, yet you are private. Close to I-275, yet no noise. Convenient location. Felt like I was experiencing a real neighborhood. I would definitely come back.
Enjoyed 3 nights at this treetop-level apartment. The location was convenient to both downtown and USF. The neighborhood was quiet and good for morning walks.
It has a large screened-in porch from which we enjoyed an afternoon tropical rainstorm, foreign to me from drought-stricken California. Bedrooms were comfortable, well-stocked kitchen, spacious living room. Hope to stay there again on my next visit.
I couldn't have had a more wonderful experience. I was there for 11 days and felt like I was at home.
There wasn't anything that the apartment lacked...a kitchen with every appliance one would need to make a full course meal...
The host and hostess were friendly and helpful. Stuart even helped me bring my suitcase to my car!! if you are looking for a home away from home this is the place to stay!
My brother and I stayed here for three nights in December. The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated. We walked in the door and felt at home! The kitchen has everything you need and all of the supplies were well stocked. It is in a great location for restaurants and an easy commute to the beach. The hosts were personable and friendly. The spacious, screened in porch was a delight! I highly recommend Old Southern Charm!
Plenty of space in this upstairs apartment with 2 bedrooms, a large family room, lovely kitchen and eating area and a bonus sun porch! The hosts were very warm and helpful - and have decorated the place delightfully and equipped it with all necessities. They also recommended places to see and some great local restaurants.
Our stay at the rental could only be summed up by saying we felt right at home!
The apartment is clean, airy and well appointed with everything you need for a comfy, welcoming visit to the Tampa region.
What you can expect: The owners are extremely approachable, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and a good resource. The apartment has virtually everything you have at home including washer and dryer, very nice modern appliances, PLENTY of cooking and eating utensils, a HUGE private screened-in porch, comfortable beds and furniture, quality towels and linen, a dining area to accommodate six, a complete entertainment system, a bookcase with varied reading material and games – all within a quiet yet central setting just minutes from interstate I-275.
The place was spotless when we arrived. The owners obviously take genuine pride in their rental. Another plus is that the flooring is wood or tile with no carpet to aggravate allergies.
Bonus- if you happen to like dogs, you’ll love their gentle, well-behaved Doberman!
Be advised the apartment is on the second story, so there are stairs involved. However they are spacious and easy to navigate.
Overall, whether for a night or a month, if you’re looking for a low traffic yet conveniently central ‘home away from home’ in Tampa you can’t go wrong here.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and charming. The upstairs flat is excellent with every convenience. The location is great in a quiet residential area not far from the Interstate for getting around the locality quickly. There are shopping and eating places close by. The flat has two double bedrooms, a spacious lounge, well equipped kitchen and bathroom and a large area for parking. The flat has a verandah facing the road that provides an alternative eating or relaxing area where you can listen to the wonderful bird song. It is everything that it claims to be. A real find.
This rental definitely included Southern Charm. Stuart and Christine are wonderful hosts and the unit was as advertised. It was clean, comfortable, and adequately stocked with the supplies we needed. They also included some milk and juice in the fridge, as well as cereal, since we told them we would arrive late at night.
They communicated well in advance with address, directions and access to the unit.
It was an overall good place to stay while visiting our son at The University of Tampa.
This accommodation is very well equipped, the owners have thought of everything. Furnishings gave the apartment a really comfortable and cosy ambience.
Friendly owners who respected your privacy, but were always on hand if required.
Very quiet at night, complimented by good quality bedding.
Location of property is good for access to Busch Gardens and many other natural sites within the Tampa area.
What a delightful spot! We were only able to spend 2 nights, but would go back in a second. It's a 1936 house in a nice old neighborhood full of big oak trees and the rental space is WONDERFUL! So spacious and sunny and everything is in absolutely tip-top condition…..clean and freshly painted, shiny hardwood floors and your own big screened balcony? We didn't cook there, but the kitchen is fully equipped. You have the whole top floor to yourselves---2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, private entrances, and your own off street parking, which is a big deal if you've tried to park in many city neighborhoods around the US.
Though you're in a quiet neighborhood, you're very close to a good diner (3 Coins, open 24 hours), a good grocery store (Publix), and I-275, which will take you downtown in less than 10 minutes. We highly recommend the Lowry Park Zoo and the Tampa Theatre, by the way.
Thanks so much for having us, Stuart and Christie---we'll spread the word and hope to come back soon.
